Ashley Sandefur

Ashley Sandefur

The love of dance has always been in me. That love expanded over the years into a larger category of movement. Studying exercise science at the University of Kansas while also studying dance, brought the science of movement into sharp focus. Throughout school, I shadowed physical therapists and after graduating worked in a physical therapy clinic. With the birth of our first child, I sought a form of movement that would marry the beauty and strength of dance with the science of biomechanics.

I found Pilates and dove in. I had the opportunity to study under the first, and at the time, only Polestar certified instructor in Kansas, Desima Dawdy. I went on to pursue a variety of certifications in mat, reformer and other equipment. I was licensed under Kyria Sabin, Ron Fletcher's protegee, to teach Fletcher Towel Work, Barre and Floorwork. (need marks) I received comprehensive training under Balanced Body Educator Sara Felt. My repertoire ranges from fitness, classical, dancer specific to pre-post rehabilitation. I have been blessed by so many forms of movement and love seeing bodies and minds work to achieve a better platform from which to transform. Ashley teaches at Pilates Performance & Rehab in Topeka and also teaches in Lawrence at Aligned Pilates and The Lawrence Performing Arts Center.
